U.S. News and World Reports has ranked Quinnipiac University the number one “up-and-coming” university in the north.

This is the first time U.S. News has included “up and coming’ universities in its annual Best Colleges issue. Educational experts were asked to nominate schools that have made important improvements to academics, faculty, campus life, and facilities. Quinnipiac’s enrollment has jumped from 2000 students in 1987 to nearly 7,500 students today. The number of faculty has grown in all academic areas, including business, law, arts and sciences, communications and the health professions. Quinnipiac University president John Lahey.

"Some of the growth that we have had and indeed all of the growth at the graduate area has been in response to the marketplace and what employers are looking for. And then just in general I think you need to have a certain size in order to generate the quality and depth and range of programs that students want."

20 years ago, 3/4 of Quinnipiac’s students came from CT. Today only 1/4 are from the state. Students come from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. President Lahey says he’d like Quinnipiac’s reputation to expand nationally.
