The Golden Age

American Music Club
World Cafe

Led by singer-songwriter Mark Eitzel, American Music Club began in San Francisco in 1982. Along with Galaxie 500 and Low, the band characterized what would become "slowcore," a style marked by its crawling pace. Lest the band be known solely for its speed, American Music Club lives up to its name by mixing very different types of American music.

The band slowly gained the appreciation of fans and critics, and its fifth album (Everclear) was named one of the Top 5 albums of 1991 by Rolling Stone. After a lengthy hiatus that began in 1994, the band reunited 10 years later and released Love Songs for Patriots. American Music Club's latest CD is titled The Golden Age.
