President Obama's executive order, now two weeks old, “removes barriers to responsible scientific research involving human embryotic stem cells” But what does responsible mean? But what guidelines should govern how stem cells are used, moving forward? The order was met with joy by researchers – who now have more streams for funding – and a mandate to put science first.

Scientists and ethicists from all over the country gather today in New Haven for StemCONN 2009—an international stem cell research symposium. Today on Where We Live, symposium organizers and experts join us to talk shop. What does new federal policy mean for a state like Connecticut, already heavily invested in stem cell research?
