What if curious reporters used radio to talk about something bigger than politics, breaking news and crime? What if they tackled memory, mortality, and sleep?
That radio show is Radio Lab and the curious reporters are Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich. Radio Lab's third season of shows begins tonight at 7 on WNPR, and runs in that slot all week long. The show takes a fresh look at science and some "big ideas" that the rest of the media aren't covering, and they do it with a dreamlike sound that draws listeners in.
Krulwich is well known to NPR Listeners. He's a science correspondent, who has been called one of the most inventive reporters in America. Abumrad produces documentaries for WNYC in New York and a number of national programs.
We'll talk about covering science and the burning questions facing mankind in a medium awash in soundbites.
