Lynn Malerba is the first female tribal chairwoman for the Mohegan Tribe. She takes over their leadership at a time when their business - gambling - is facing tough times.
The Mohegan Sun resort and casino is still one of the world's largest casinos ... but it's $1-billion in debt, and has had to halt construction of it's hotel expansion project.
And, there's competition on the way. But, Malerba says with the right business strategy, her tribe will be able to welcome competition. They're exploring a casino in Western Massachusetts - if lawmakers there decide gambling is the way to fill their state coffers.
Today, Where We Live, a converstation with Lynn Malerba - about running a sovereign nation, within one of the country's smallest states...and about the tribes role in propping up Connecticut's state budget.
