The city of Hartford has the third largest West Indian population in the United States. The population is being celebrated by a multimedia exhibit at Real Art Ways “ROCKSTONE & BOOTHEEL”. Poet Allison Joseph draws from her experience as a West Indian in her writing, exploring her relationship with her father and her childhood traditions.
Joseph is the author of Several books of poems, including her new book “My Father’s Kites” She’s an instructor at Southern Illinois University – and will be doing a reading Saturday at Real Art Ways at 6:30PM and Sunday at 4PM at Labrynth books in New Haven.
