A new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed the largest one year increase in youth suicide rates in 15 years. So, what's causing this troubling trend?

DeAnna Lia, Youth Suicide Advisory BoardDeAnna Lia, Youth Suicide Advisory Board Some researchers are worried that the spike in teen suicide is linked to a series of warnings by the Food and Drug Administration in 2003 and 2004 that warned that some children and adolescents had seen an increase in suicidal thoughts because of anti-depressants. Now, many are worried that a downturn in prescriptions of these drugs have actually led to this alarming increase.

Today, we're going to look inside the numbers, and try to find out what's causing an increase in youth suicide. We'll talk to experts who can answer questions about what's being done to prevent suicide in Connecticut, and how friends and family can watch for the signs.
