Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro has made her mark in the House on issues of drug and food safety, and as a key part of Democratic party strategy.
Rosa DeLauro is serving her ninth term in congress representing Connecticut's 3rd district. She's supported a wide range of issues in this heavily Democratic district and hasn't faced any tough competition from a Republican Challenger for years. Last night, she was nominated for a 10th term by district democrats and promised to keep fighting tough battles.
Those battles have included drug and food safety - and recently, a secret Pentagon program to shape perceptions of the Iraq war. That war was the main reason behind the Democratic wave of support in 2006 and today, we'll ask her what she thinks this congress has accomplished in the last few years.
In many ways, her seat in Congress allows her to take on these challenges - it's long been considered a "safe" democratic seat, and she's been challenged by political newcomers from the Republican party in recent elections.
Today, where we live, we'll continue our series of forums with those running for Connecticut's five congressional seats - and give you a chance to ask questions of Rosa DeLauro. We'll talk about her calls for a probe into a secret Pentagon program to shape perceptions of the Iraq war - about her Republican Challenger, Boaz Itshaky...and about the direction of the Democratic party.
