Live from the Garde Arts Center in New London, Connecticut, this is Where We live.
It’s our second day broadcasting from this small city situated on the banks of the Thames River. It’s a city with a rich maritime history, the hub of a tourism region that’s exploded in the last 15 years with the rise of the two tribal casinos, and a city that’s struggling to fulfill it’s enormous promise.
Throughout the show, we’ll be talking with civic leaders and residents about the future of this city, and its promise as a hub for the growing region of Southeastern Connecticut.
New London has a long maritime history, amazingly detailed and well preserved architecture, transportation infrastructure that includes trains, buses, ferries and major highways and a burgeoning arts community, led by Hygenic Art and the place we’re sitting, the recently refurbished Garde Arts Center.
But despite all of these assets many people say New London isn’t thriving and the question is "Why"?
