Ever find it hard to remember to drop off the dry cleaning on your way to work?  Or maybe you can never remember to stop off for some groceries on your way home—until it’s 10 blocks too late?

It’s not just you and, no, you’re not just tired.  Yale researchers have described how different parts of our brains compete as we try to go about our days--that’s old news.

But they’re now starting to understand the relationship between these competing parts of the brain.  They hope their research can help them understand bad habits, addictions, and automatic behaviors—and that someday this information can lead to new therapeutic approaches for people with certain mental illnesses.
