The state legislature is talking about creating an Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission - as an acknowledgement of this growing segment of the population. While the total percentage of the population is only about 4 and half percent nationally, that number has jumped some 63 percent since the 1990 census. But, can any state organization really take into account the variety of cultures, languages, and needs of the asian-american population - one that includes people coming from China and Japan, Southeast Asia and India?

Today on Where We Live, a panel discussion about Asian Americans in Connecticut today. We'll talk about the formation of the Commission - but also the education, healthcare and social needs of this population.
