This CPTV Original documentary examines the very first nuclear-powered submarine that was launched out of the submarine base on Thames River in Groton, Connecticut. On January 21, 1954, the USS Nautilus was created, opening a new door to America’s defense. This atomic vessel played an important role in both the Cold War and civilian nuclear power. USS Nautilus documents the development and construction of this mighty submarine.
