Featured Program

WNPR's jazz program Sunday nights at 9pm. The program will draw on national, international and local talent. One week Spotlight on Jazz will feature the 50th anniversary of the Monterey Jazz Festival, another week it will feature a tribute to Thelonius Monk.
Local and regional content will be featured too. Plans are to include recorded live performances, interviews, commentaries and live performance information.
The Jazz Brew is a regular feature during this program. It's like a mini mix tape. One of the sets in the first hour features jazz based on a theme. So far, there have been sets about the color blue, the civil rights movement, things that go 'round, the election, food and more. If you have an idea for a The Jazz Mix, you can contact us at info@wnpr.org.
“In the modern world, there’s a lot of things that come and go so quickly, fad-wise. If you can latch on to something that seems to be a tradition you can take with you, it’s healing in sense. It reassures you that the world isn’t just completely flashing by you. Even as you get older and more set in your ways, there are some things you can hold fast.†Public Radio Jazz Listener
WNPR’s jazz programming will focus mainly on Mainstream Jazz and the values of the Mainstream Jazz Listener.
