McCoy Tyner Septet. Silje Nergaard, and Joe Zawinul with the WDR Bigband.

One of the most exciting festivals of the summer season North Sea Jazz Festival is a thrill for musicians as well as the audience. Fifteen indoor stages rock, croon, swing and fly with music from the whole spectrum of jazz. There's no end to the meeting, greeting and jamming.

In July we offer our first two programs for broadcast while the 32nd North Sea Jazz Festival is underway in Rotterdam (7/13 to15). We'll provide two more in August.

The four can be broadcast as part of the EJS series and also broadcast as a Labor Day special of one to four hours. Each program is self contained. (Connecting promo package and custom liners available from [email protected])

Daniel Frankl hosts this hour, packed with highlights from the 2006 event. Pianist McCoy Tyner joins trumpeter Wallace Roney, trombonist Steve Turre and bassist Charnett Moffett for a set of jazz mastery. From the European pop and jazz scene vocalist Silje Nergaard brings her enchanting voice and songs. She appears with her quartet.

Till Brönner, one of the most talented jazz trumpeters Germany has produced in the last decade, leads a quintet. Joe Zawinul's compositions and arrangements for Weather Report have joined the international jazz canon. Zawinul plays keyboards on "Brown Street" and "March of the Lost Children" arranged for Cologne's WDR Big Band in the Festival's headline show
