Great Performances at the Met presents La Fille du Régiment or "Daughter of the Regiment" by the renowned Metropolitan Opera in a stunning high-definition broadcast format.
Hailed by the Times of London as “the operatic show of the season,” this interpretation of Gaetano Donizetti’s La Fille du Régiment premiered to rave reviews. The production features Natalie Dessay in the role of the foundling Marie and Juan Diego Flórez as her beloved Tonio. The pair was described as an “operatic coupling made in heaven” by London’s Financial Times.

This presentation comes as part of CPTV’s year-long series of opera broadcasts. Great Performances has been airing on PBS for more than 35 seasons, and it is the only continuing prime time performance showcase on American television. During its time on the air, the series has been honored with 62 Emmy awards and four Peabody Awards.
