Dominick Dunne Remembered
Janet Peckinpaugh's In-Depth Interview with Dominick Dunne - his last television interview before his death in August 2009
Aired Thursday, 11/5 at 9 p.m. on CPTV
Crime Reporter, Dominick Dunne's last television interview aired on CPTV on a pilot program, 180 Degrees with Janet Peckinpaugh, one year ago. Dunne and T-V Journalist Peckinpaugh had been friends for more than a decade and were always supportive of each others' projects. When she called and asked him to do an interview for her show, he already knew he was sick with the bladder cancer that took his life in late August but he re-arranged his schedule to be at the Hartford studios.
The pilot was about people turning their lives around after facing adversity. Dunne hit rock bottom and had to learn to go forward without the drugs and alcohol he'd become addicted to. It was during that period that his only daughter, Dominique was murdered.
That portion of the interview aired last November but there was another part that wasn't seen. It covered his glamorous life in Hollywood, rubbing elbows with the rich and famous as well as a glimpse into the cruelty of that town when you're down on your luck. Peckinpaugh wants to share all of that special interview with the CT television audience.
Dominick Dunne was born and raised in Hartford and wrote many of his books and articles in his Hadlyme home along the CT River. He is buried nearby.
