Nearly 20,000 people in Connecticut are estimated to be living with HIV.  Almost half are unaware of their status. Connecticut ranks 14th in the nation in AIDS cases per capita, 3rd per capita among women and 1st among injecting drug users.  But it often seems like we aren't talking about HIV/AIDS as much as we used to.  The face of AIDS is changing as treatment continues to improve and prolong the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS—and some say we've grown complacent about stopping a preventable disease in our community.  Today on Where We Live, we'll talk to activists, educators, and health care providers—some of whom are living with HIV themselves.  How do families cope with the disease?  How might state budget concerns impact services to those living with HIV?  And what about senior citizens and AIDS?  It isn't just Connecticut's young people at risk.
