Ryan Joseph Bingham was elected Mayor of Torrington, Connecticut in November 2005. Voted in at 22 years old he is the youngest Mayor in the history of Connecticut. He grew up in Torrington and attended local schools. After Mayor Bingham graduated from Torrington High School, he attended Marist College and received a BA in Political Science.
Since his election the Mayor has been working diligently to revive Torrington’s downtown, get the education system back on track and remain accessible to everyone. The Mayor has also increased public safety with the recruitment of additional police. While in office, Mayor Bingham has been successful in obtaining a great number of grants for the City of Torrington ranging from rebuilding streetscapes to employing Torrington’s youth with summer jobs.
The Mayor uses his strong devotion to the people of Torrington to make a great city an even better place to live, work and retire.
