Robert Santy

Robert Santy, president and CEO of CERC has a 27-year career in the economic development field, most recently serving as president of the Regional Growth Partnership in New Haven, Connecticut. During his time at RGP, Santy provided leadership to statewide efforts that supported regional agendas including but not limited to tax reform, economic development, affordable housing and competitiveness.

Prior to his position at RGP, Santy served as the vice president of the Connecticut Capital Region Growth Council where he managed the development and implementation of the Metro Hartford Millennium Project, a 29-town strategic economic development plan.

Santy also served as the deputy commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Economic Development (now DECD) in the early 90's, where he managed a 100 person agency. Santy led legislative advocacy efforts to: reduce workers compensation costs, create research and development and tax training credits. During his time at DECD, Santy initiated and managed an annual economic development marketing campaign which generated 20,000 direct inquiries and won an AMA EFFIE Award. In addition, Santy worked with the utility partners to create the Connecticut Economic Resource Center.

Prior to beginning his economic development career in Connecticut, Santy served in the nation's capital for more then 15 years holding a variety of positions ranging from coordinator of special programs for Senator Lowell Weicker to the assistant administrator and chief of staff for the U.S Small Business Administration. In addition, Santy was the senior manager, director of Government Relations and Small Business Affairs for Deloitte and Touche, where he was responsible for firm relations with the federal government and for development and implementation on firm positions on public policy issues.

In addition, he holds a number of leadership positions with community organizations including: Board Secretary for the Connecticut Regional Institute for the 21st Century, Board Member of the Congressional Youth Leadership Council, Trustee and Foundation Chair of the Eastern States Exposition and board member of the New Haven Symphony. Santy holds a bachelor's degree in American civilization and a master's degree in business, economics and public policy from the George Washington University.

Father of two grown children, Santy currently resides in New Haven with his wife Sandy.
