Michael Reid
Editor of the Americas section
The Economist

Michael Reid is editor of the Americas section of The Economist. He has lived for lengthy periods in Brazil, Mexico, and Peru. For his work, he has won the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism’s Maria Moors Cabot Prize (2003), the oldest international prize in the field of journalism. In 2000 he was awarded Brazil’s Ordem Nacional do Cruzeiro do Sul. He is a member of the Advisory Council of the Institute for the Study of the Americas at London University, and of the International Committee of the Fernand Braudel Institute of World Economics, Sao Paulo, Brazil. He lives in London.

His most recent book, Forgotten Continent: The Battle for Latin America's Soul, came out in January.
