Matthew Kirk is based in Washington, D.C. and represents The Hartford on public policy issues related to the company and the insurance industry that involve Congress and the Executive Branch.
Kirk served in the White House from early in the Administration of President George W. Bush through January, 2006.
Prior to his service in the Bush Administration, Kirk served for six years on the leadership staff of the U. S. Senate, beginning in 1995 as a professional staff assistant for the Republican Policy Committee and concluding, in 2001, as the senior floor assistant for the assistant majority leader, Sen. Don Nickles (R-Okla.). Kirk also served as Senator Nickles' policy advisor for labor, employment, financial services and housing issues.
Kirk, a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, graduated from Michigan State University's James Madison School of Political Science with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations.
