Mark Pazniokas was the former Hartford Courant state politics writer. He was the paper's lead reporter on two of the state's biggest political stories in recent decades: the impeachment inquiry and resignation of Gov. John G. Rowland and the 2006 Senate race that Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman won as an independent after losing a Democratic primary.
Pazniokas joined The Courant in 1984 as a Hartford city hall reporter. After covering the State Capitol and federal courts, he returned to city hall in 2001 to chronicle the city's transition to a strong-mayor government led by the city's first Puerto Rican mayor, Eddie Perez. He returned to the Capitol in 2004 to cover the Rowland impeachment.
