Joan Margolis is Director of Operations and Community Programs at Jewish Family Services of Greater Hartford, and also serves as State Coordinator for Programs for Holocaust Survivors. She directs active programs at JFS agencies in Hartford, New Haven and Bridgeport. Programs provide support to help needy survivors to remain independent in their later years, offering some ease to this most vulnerable population. Home care, assistance with home maintenance and transportation are some of the services provided, with the overarching goal of keeping survivors out of institutional care. Ms. Margolis, a lifelong resident of the area, has served in this capacity for 11 years. Programs are made possible by the Claims Conference, the single largest organization in the world working to secure compensation, restitution and assistance for Holocaust survivors.
