Howard L. Reiter has taught at the University of Connecticut since 1974, and became department head in August 2003. He specializes in American politics, with a focus on political parties and elections. Professor Reiter has been a Fulbright Research Scholar in western Europe, a recipient of Choice Magazine's Outstanding Academic Books Award, and a lecturer on American politics in Europe, Asia and Latin America. In 2001-2002, he held the Uppsala Chair in American Studies in Uppsala, Sweden, as part of the Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program. Professor Reiter received his B.A. from Cornell and his A.M. and Ph.D. from Harvard.
