Eric Danton
Rock Critic
The Hartford Courant

Eric R. Danton is rock critic for The Hartford Courant, but don't get hung up on the "rock" part: He writes, to varying degrees (but never enough to satisfy everyone), about everything that isn't jazz or classical music. He also contributes to Performing Songwriter and No Depression, a bi-monthly magazine devoted to Americana music.

Eric grew up in a suburb of Denver, moved to Connecticut as a teenager and attended college in Rochester, NY, where he once sold merch at a Freddy Jones Band show, waited in line overnight for Van Halen tickets and totally partied with Widespread Panic, sort of. He began working for The Courant in 1997, covering a succession of small towns in eastern Connecticut before ascending the rock throne in May 2002.
