Emily Monosson
Toxicologist, Author

Emily Monosson is an environmental toxicologist, writer, consultant, teacher and mother of two children aged eleven and fourteen. She received her BS from Union College, and her MS and PhD in toxicology from Cornell University. Her focus as a toxicologist is the impact of "emerging" contaminants on human health and the environment. In addition to teaching and consulting she writes for local newspapers, journals, and her own blog reporting and interpreting current research. She is also involved in the development and stewardship of the Encyclopedia of Earth and is editor of the book Motherhood the Elephant in the Laboratory: women scientists speak out, essays about combining motherhood with science, recently published by Cornell University's ILR Press.
