Ellen R. Delisio of Middletown likes to joke that she is North America's Oldest First-Time (and Single) Mother. She adopted her son Gabriel Allen, now 20 months old, from Guatemala and they arrived home on Feb. 13, 2009. She has been a member of Single Mothers by Choice for about five years. Delisio is a writer/editor/researcher with more than 25 years experience and is currently seeking a full-time position in the field. For almost nine years, she was the editor of news and features for www.educationworld.com Education World, a Web site for K-12 educators. She has worked as a daily reporter for The Middletown Press and the Journal Inquirer. Delisio has a B.A. in communications from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa., and an M.A. in newspaper journalism from Syracuse University.
