Sharon Moalem received his Ph.D. in the emerging fields of
neurogenetics and evolutionary medicine from the University of Toronto. His research discovered a new genetic association for familial Alzheimer disease.

Dr. Moalem has published papers in a wide variety of fields and topics, from what happens to honeybees when they get sick, to the evolutionary adaptive advantages of both
hemochromatosis and diabetes.

While in college he was presented as a gift to His Majesty King Bhumibol Rama IXth of Thailand, for his 50th year of reign, to help improve the care of young children at an HIV-positive orphanage.

He continues to work as a researcher while finishing his medical training at New York's Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
