Dan Haar is business editor at The Hartford Courant. Dan joined The Courant in 1981 as a photographer after graduating from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. He became a staff writer in 1987, and covered Connecticut towns, state and national politics and numerous business news beats. As an economics columnist he was a finalist for the Gerald Loeb Award in commentary in 2005. Dan lives in West Hartford with his daughter, where he coaches soccer, kayaks and plays ultimate frisbee. He is a member of the alumni association executive committee at Wesleyan.
