Carol Carson was appointed by the Citizens Ethics Advisory Board to serve as the
executive director of the Connecticut Office of State Ethics in December 2007. The Office of State Ethics is charged with enforcement of ethics provisions for legislators, state employees and lobbyists and with issuing opinions to guide ethical conduct of the regulated community.
Prior to joining the Connecticut, Office of State Ethics, Ms. Carson served at the
Massachusetts Ethics Commission from 1992, most recently as a member of senior management of the Massachusetts Ethics Commission where she was responsible for
the Commission’s communication functions through media relations, written publications, web site and educational programs and has worked on that agency’s
legislative team and as liaison to professional organizations. She previously worked as a reporter with the Bay State Newspaper Company in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Ms. Carson is a past president of Council on Government Ethics Laws, an international government ethics organization, and a member of the editorial board of the Public
Integrity Journal. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Wellesley College and holds a Master of Science in Public Affairs from the University of Massachusetts.
