Representative Beth Bye (D-West Hartford) was elected to the General Assembly in 2006 and serves Avon, Farmington and West Hartford as part of the 19th District. During her time in the legislature, she has ushered in legislation improving educational, health and emotional well-being of young children. She recently helped organize an informational forum between the Education and Human Services committees to discuss ways for the state to obtain federal dollars for early care and education, bringing in a national expert from the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Rep. Bye is widely recognized as a leading authority on early childhood education in Connecticut. She is the former director of the School for Young Children at St. Joseph's College in West Hartford and Trinity College Community Child Care Center. Beth has had a role in the development of several model preschool facilities (public, private and charter) including: the Wintonbury Early Childhood Magnet, The School for Young Children in West Hartford and on Asylum Hill. Combined these schools serve over 600 preschool children in the Capitol Region today. She continues to be a champion for early care and education in Connecticut.
