WNPR Small Business Breakfast to Take Place During the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Business Forum

Friday, March 23 at 7:30 a.m. at the Garde Art Center in New London, Connecticut

-Hosted by WNPR News Director John Dankosky-

HARTFORD, Conn. (February 23, 2012) – Since January 2011, WNPR’s Small Business Project has explored the intricate world of small business in Connecticut. As part of this initiative, the statewide public radio network is hosting the next WNPR Small Business Breakfast on Friday, March 23 during the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut’s Business Forum at the Garde Arts Center in New London. The event includes networking beginning at 7:30 a.m. and a live remote broadcast of WNPR’s news/talk radio program, Where We Live, starting at 9 a.m. To attend, guests must register as an attendee of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Business Forum. Registration is free and space is limited. For more information, visit wnpr.org, keyword: Small Biz.

This WNPR Small Business Breakfast is sponsored by Founding Partner Webster Bank, with additional support from Albertus Magnus College and the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut.

“Webster is pleased to sponsor this important dialogue as our country emerges from the Great Recession and looks for ways to spur economic growth and create jobs,” said John Guy, senior vice president and director of business and professional banking at Webster. “Small businesses are the heart and soul of Connecticut’s economy. These entrepreneurs provide the spirit and energy that set the tone of our economic goals. With more than 322,000 small businesses in Connecticut, they account for more than 30-percent of the jobs here and together we need to find a way to help them prosper and grow.”

WNPR’s Small Business Project strives to elevate understanding of the challenges faced by Connecticut’s small businesses, to educate policy-makers and to highlight the vital role of small business to the state’s economy. As an off-shoot of WNPR’s Business Desk coverage, the radio series is spearheaded by award-winning business reporter Harriet Jones who puts small business under a microscope and investigates all aspects of what it takes to run a company of this kind. The project includes weekly reports on small businesses during Morning Edition and All Things Considered, monthly in-depth exploration of small business topics affecting Connecticut, live remote broadcasts of Where We Live during quarterly Small Business Breakfast forums, and online archived reports and resources for small businesses at wnpr.org.

WNPR’s Small Business Project is made possible by Founding Partner Webster Bank.
