Release Date: 01/25/2010

WNPR/Connecticut Public Radio will air NPR’s live, anchored coverage of President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address on Wednesay, January 27 at 9 p.m.

The coverage will be hosted by All Things Considered host Robert Siegel, and will include special guest commentators. The President’s address will be followed by coverage of the Republican response, and then by an hour-long call-in show hosted by Talk of the Nation’s Neal Conan. It is predicted that the call-in program will begin at 11 p.m. The special coverage of this event will preempt WNPR’s previously scheduled programming.

President Obama will deliver the 2010 State of the Union Address – his first such address –  on the floor of the United States House of Representatives in the United States Capitol. He will appear before a joint session of Congress to report on the current condition of the nation, as well as his proposed legislative agenda. It is believed President Obama will focus around his plan to cut the federal deficit; topics such as the war in Afghanistan or the devastating crisis in Haiti may also be included.

Tune in to WNPR for live coverage of the 2010 State of the Union Address, and stay tuned to NPR’s live call-in show for the chance to submit questions and comments.
