Release Date: 12/31/1969

A Trio of Tenors Performs Favorite Hits of the 1970s & ’80s in a New Public Television Special

Tune in on Tuesday, March 9 at 8 p.m. for the CPTV premiere of the riveting concert special Vai DaCapo: Songs of Delight.

Vai DaCapo is a powerful new tenor group made up of Grammy award-winning opera and stage performers, Nmon Ford, Joseph Guyton and Colin Eaton. Their new PBS special was shot in one of the few surviving rococo-style theaters in the world, on the grounds of Germany’s picturesque Schwetzingen Castle. In Vai DaCapo: Songs of Delight, the group is joined by the legendary Patti Austin, and performs pop hits of the ’70s and ’80s, such as Michael Jackson’s “I’ll Be There,” Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me.”

As part of this premiere event, members of Vai DaCapo will be appearing live in the CPTV studio to discuss the making of the concert special. Plus, viewers will be provided with information about special ticket opportunities to Vai DaCapo’s upcoming area concert as part of CPTV’s Red Carpet Experience series.

The mission of Vai DaCapo is reflected by their name; in Italian, vai dacapo means “go back to the beginning”– and that’s precisely what these extraordinary singers aim to do.

“We wanted to revisit music whose message might be missed these days,” explains Colin. “This is music from happier times, when songwriters addressed such topics as hope, inspiration, and love, and for whom the words and the message were so very important.”

Despite their Italian name, Nmon, Joseph and Colin are all Americans, and they each have an impressive musical background. All three are operatically trained, and together they offer unique and mesmerizing new renditions of favorite hits of decades past.
