HARTFORD Conn. (September 3, 2013) – Stefanie Dolson, standout center for the UConn Women’s Basketball team, turned the tables on sports reporters today by asking them questions at the taping of Beyond the Beat, CPTV Sports’ weekly sports talk show.

This special first anniversary edition of Beyond the Beat premieres Tuesday, September 3 at 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on CPTV Sports, with encore broadcasts on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6 at 5 a.m. & Saturday, Sept. 7 at 5 p.m.

Dolson – a senior from Port Jervis, New York – relished the opportunity to grill Hartford Courant columnist Jeff Jacobs, New London Day columnist Mike DiMauro and WFSB’s Joe Zone during the 30-minute program taped at UConn’s Gampel Pavilion. Dolson asked about what sports and specific personalities the reporters enjoyed covering the most; how they managed to sit stoically at the press table during games; and why some sports reporters continued to mispronounce players’ names, such as Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis.

However, the 6’ 5” center did answer some questions of her own, including some regarding her involvement in the “Bunny Ears” caper at the team’s White House appearance in July.

Hosted by WFSB sports reporter Joe Zone, Beyond the Beat is a weekly sports show goes “out of the press box” to find out what the state’s sports reporters really think about the athletes, coaches, match-ups and issues making today’s sports page headlines. Each week the show features a raucous, free-wheeling discussion of everything from UConn Huskies basketball and the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun to Major League Baseball and the NFL.
