Musician Dave Koz Pays Homage to Classic Movie Themes with a Modern Theme: Dave Koz at the Movies

Release Date: 07/29/2009

Premieres Saturday, August 1 at 6 p.m. on CPTV (with an encore presentation on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 8 p.m.)

Musician Dave Koz has already conquered the world of pop music and is now exploring a collection of timeless movie themes. In Dave Koz at the Movies, airing on CPTV on Saturday, August 1 at 6 p.m. (with an encore presentation on Sunday, August 2 at 8 p.m.), Koz and an impressive array of guest artists including Anita Baker (“Somewhere,” West Side Story), Barry Manilow, (“Moon River," Breakfast at Tiffany’s), Johnny Mathis (“Shadow Of Your Smile,” The Sandpiper), and Vanessa Williams (“The Way We Were” from the film of the same name) take on the songs that are as memorable as the films they are from.

Koz decided to take on the project because “these are songs that are so much a part of people’s lives that I felt it was important to respect the original while nonetheless putting my own unique spin on them,” he explained. Some of the movies Koz chose to include are “The Pink Panther” (Pink Panther), “It Might Be You” (Tootsie), “As Time Goes By” (Casablanca), “Over the Rainbow” (The Wizard of Oz) and “The Summer Knows” (Summer of ’42).

“It’s kind of a dream-come-true project, recording these classic film melodies with great guest artists,” says Koz. At the Movies, the eighth album by the four-time Grammy® nominated artist, has become a platinum seller.

In addition, CPTV is offering special Red Carpet ticket opportunities to viewers to attend Dave Koz’s upcoming Christmas show featuring vocalist Brenda Russell and musicians David Benoit, Rick Brown and others. For additional details, tune in or call 1-860-275-7550.
