More Beer! More Chili! More Room! CPTV and WNPR’s Craft Beer & Chili Challenge Returns for Its Second Year
HARTFORD, Conn. (July 20, 2011) – One of last summer’s biggest parties – the soldout CPTV and WNPR Craft Beer & Chili Challenge – returns this August in a bigger venue with even more craft beer and chili to enjoy.
On Sunday, August 21 from 12 noon to 4 p.m., CPTV and WNPR will present the second annual Craft Beer & Chili Challenge. Due to overwhelming demand, the event has been moved to Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut to allow thousands of attendees plenty of room to enjoy hundreds of craft beers from over 80 breweries and dozens of chilis from more than 20 of the best restaurants in the state.
Just like last year, the variety of craft beer and chili to sample is staggering. Everything from dark ales and stouts like Guinness and Arrogant Bastard Ale (last year’s winner), to pale ales and blonde lagers such as City Steam’s Blonde on Blonde Ale and Sierra Nevada’s Summerfest Lager, and everything in between will be available to taste. The CPTV & WNPR Craft Beer and Chili Challenge has a brew for every beer aficionado.
The chili is sure to be even more surprising with an impressive list of restaurants participating, including Max Burger, Grant’s, Willimantic Brewing Company, The Half Door and more. Last year’s chili options ranged from Hawaiian Pulled Pork Chili and BBQ Smoked Beef Brisket Chili to the 2010 winning dish, Eli Cannon’s Mexican Spiced Chili.
Those who purchase VIP tickets will receive unlimited access to the VIP lounge featuring 10 special limited-release brews on tap alongside a delicious menu to complement these thirst-quenching brews.
Everyone who attends the event can vote for their favorites, and later in the week, we’ll announce Connecticut’s best beer and chili. Will Arrogant Bastard Ale take the crown again? Which Connecticut chef will create the crowd’s favorite chili? Come and find out!
This year THERE WILL BE NO TICKETS SOLD AT THE DOOR so tickets must be ordered online at beerandchili.org by the Tuesday, August 16 deadline. General Admission is $45 per person. Designated Driver tickets are $30. A VIP ticket is $90 per person. VIP Designated Driver is $60 per person. All attendees must be 21 years or older.
