CPTV’s New Series of Concerts from Norfolk Showcases Country Sensation Shelby Lynne

Premieres Friday, July 22 at 11 p.m. on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV)

HARTFORD, Conn. (July 11, 2011) – Infinity Hall Live, airing Fridays at 11 p.m. on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV), is a new concert series unlike any that the public television network has ever produced, because it has a special connection to the Nutmeg State: Each episode is taped at Infinity Hall, a stunning 19th century music venue located in Norfolk, Connecticut.

On Friday, July 22 at 11 p.m. on CPTV, Infinity Hall Live continues with a concert by country performer Shelby Lynne. Since her debut in 1989, Shelby Lynne has been difficult to define with her music ranging from country, blues, Southern soul, roots rock, Western swing, jazz and adult contemporary pop.

When asked to define herself, Lynne replied simply, “I try not to define anything really, myself especially. I like to let the music do the talking.” This simple statement speaks volumes to her craft. Shelby Lynne is a musician at heart, bringing her soulful, down-home sound and style to countless individuals.

Born in Virginia but raised in rural Alabama, Lynne struggled at the onset of her career.  It wasn’t until her 2000 album, I Am Shelby Lynne, that she garnered critical acclaim. The album earned her a Grammy for Best New Artist, propelling her into the international spotlight. Since then, she has continued to dazzle audiences across the country, asserting herself as one of country music’s greats.

Recently, she has made inroads onto the silver screen, appearing in several films, most notably Walk the Line. A performer born and bred, Lynne combines skill with heart, pouring herself absolutely into her art.

Infinity Hall Live features world-class musicians giving powerful performances in an intimate setting, and viewers are granted front-row seats—without having to leave the comfort of their own homes. Additionally, each episode gives viewers an exclusive peek behind the scenes, complete with artist interviews and a backstage look at concert preparations.

This new CPTV local series combines engaging contemporary artists with the old-fashioned joy of stripped-down, authentic performances. Plus, it showcases enjoy the thrill of seeing a Connecticut landmark brought to rollicking life.
