This Friday CPTV's On the Record Offers a Local Look at the New Obama Administration

Release Date: 01/22/2009

HARTFORD, Conn. – A new installment of On the Record, airing on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) on Friday, January 23 at 8:30 p.m. with host Steve Kotchko, will offer a fresh, local perspective on the new Obama Administration.

On this Friday’s On the Record (OTR), Kotchko will talk to Glastonbury attorney Nicholas Paindiris, a key figure in the Obama CT campaign, an official Obama elector and an Obama supporter who went to Washington for the inauguration. Also, Douglas Schwartz, Quinnipiac University poll director, will discuss the pros and cons of being a very popular elected official. For example, an official has clout because of mass support, but also faces unreasonably high expectations from the electorate.

And, in OTR’s Notes From the Capitol segment, the focus is on the hiring and ultimate cancellation of a new high-paying legislative job for former State House Speaker James Amann due to political pressure and editorial criticism. Mark Pazniokas of the Hartford Courant and Paul Hughes of the Waterbury Republican-American will be joining Kotchko on this episode of OTR.

OTR is also available on demand at cptv.org.
