CTSN Follows Future Engineering All-Stars With RoboNation: CT FIRST, Premiering May 13 at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

HARTFORD, Conn. – Connecticut Sports Network (CTSN), Connecticut’s first-ever 24-hour local sports network, will air a Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network (CPBN) Media Lab original production, which follows four high school robotics teams as they prepare for and participate in the Connecticut FIRST Robotics Competition. RoboNation: CT FIRST will air on CTSN on Wednesday, May 13 at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. with rebroadcasts airing Sunday, May 17 at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The high school students join engineering mentors from United Technologies Corporation (UTC) to train, practice, build and eventually compete at the Connecticut Convention Center. UTC supported a total of 30 teams at the Connecticut FIRST Robotics Competition, all of whom embodied the “gracious professionalism” that has become the ethos of the FIRST program.

The four teams featured on RoboNation: CT First – including Birds of Prey, Paragon, RAGE and ÜberBots – hail from Avon, Windsor, Tolland and other towns across Connecticut, but when they enter the Connecticut Convention Center on the big day, they come together in the mutual sprit of competition.

“Competition is the cake,” said Chuck Nystrom, team leader of RAGE. “Winning is the icing.”

All the team members exemplify the best of what FIRST has to offer: teamwork, strong cooperation with their UTC mentors, an eye towards career development and, of course, a drive for success.
