CPTV Produces New National PBS Special, Matthew Morrison: Where It All Began—Live from the Bushnell

Airs Friday, June 28 at 9 p.m. on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV)

HARTFORD, Conn. (June 18, 2013) – Fans of the television series Glee will be thrilled to see their beloved Mr. Schuester in his own new national PBS special, Matthew Morrison: Where It All Began—Live from the Bushnell, airing Friday, June 28 at 9 p.m. on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV).

Produced by CPTV at the Hartford’s Bushnell on November 16, 2012, this new concert special features Morrison accompanied by an orchestra and his own funk-injected backup singers/dancers and band. Bold images on a giant screen at the rear of the stage capturing the essence of the songs further enhance the performance. Brad Ellis, who quietly accompanies Mr. Shu on Glee, is Morrison’s accompanist on stage, creating a warm, familiar atmosphere.

Morrison sustains a modern musical sensibility as he nails American standards and other beloved songs, including Lady Is a Tramp, Younger than Springtime, Don’t Mean a Thing and Ease on Down the Road.

Morrison, who grew up in Orange County, California, attended New York University’s Tisch School for two years until he could no longer resist the bright lights of Broadway. His talent is reflected by the shows he has starred in: He originated the role of Link Larkin in Hairspray, earned a Tony nomination for his performance in Light in the Piazza and was Lieutenant Cable in the first revival of South Pacific. In 2009, his role in Glee took him to new heights of success and popularity.

Lady Is a Tramp

Come Rain or Come Shine/Basin Street Blues

On The Street Where You Live
