CPTV programming highlights begin on Wednesday, November 3 at 11 p.m. with Circus Fire, an examination of the tragedy that occurred in 1944 when the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey big top caught fire during a performance, leaving hundreds dead or wounded. Next, on Monday, November 8 at 9 p.m., comes Last Days of the Coliseum, which tells the story of the New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum, a unique venue that hosted shows by some of the biggest names in music and sports before it closed in 2002. Then, tune in on Monday, November 15 at 9 p.m. for African Americans in Connecticut: Civil War to Civil Rights, a film documenting how African American citizens of the Nutmeg State strove for equality throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. And finally, on Sunday, November 21 at 12:30 p.m., CPTV airs Mr. Kennedy Comes to Connecticut, a critical look at President Kennedy’s pivotal campaign stop in Waterbury days before the 1960 election.

CPTV presents this special programming as part of Connecticut’s yearlong celebration, which began on February 17, 2010 when Governor M. Jodi Rell led a procession from the State Capitol to the State Library.

“This celebration is for everyone – for the young and old, for those with deep roots and those who have just recently called Connecticut home,” Governor Rell said. “It is a great state to live, work, and raise a family. Over the course of 2010, we will honor Connecticut – its founders and future.”

Funding for Connecticut’s 375th Anniversary Programming Celebration on CPTV is provided by the Presenting Sponsor, Travelers.
