CPTV Celebrates a Legend with Roy Orbison & Friends: A Black and White Night
HARTFORD, Conn. – Connecticut Public Television (CPTV celebrates the life of a legend with Roy Orbison & Friends: A Black and White Night on Saturday, January 10 at 12:30 p.m.
Filmed at Los Angeles’ illustrious Cocoanut Grove just a year before Orbison’s death, this concert event showcases the talents of the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, as well as those of his biggest fans. These fans include Elvis Costello, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, k.d. lang, Jackson Brown, and others, all of whom join Orbison onstage for a series of unprecedented performances. Accompanying Orbison and friends are members of the renowned TCB Band, which performed as Elvis Presley’s touring band during the ’60s and ’70s.
This concert has become a fan-favorite, and includes such songs as “Crying,” “Only the Lonely” and a Grammy-Award winning rendition of “Oh, Pretty Woman.” Roy Orbison & Friends: A Black and White Night is one of Orbison’s final and most monumental performances.
