CPTV Begins Airing The Mind of a Chef, Narrated and Executive Produced by Anthony Bourdain

 HARTFORD, Conn. (March 13, 2013) – Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) is making a new addition to its weekend lineup with The Mind of a Chef, which will begin airing on CPTV on Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. beginning on March 23. 

The PBS series, narrated and executive produced by Anthony Bourdain – author of Kitchen Confidential and former host of the Travel Channel series Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations – goes inside the mind of innovative Korean-American chef, restaurateur and author David Chang. Combining travel, cooking, history, science and humor, the program follows Chang from Copenhagen to Kansas City, examining his unique, food-centric world.

“The Mind of a Chef is a reinvention of a travel-cooking show,” Bourdain said of the program. “This season we go inside the kitchen, the world and the mind of Chef David Chang. This show is a chance to explore that mind in all its tangled glory.”

In the series premiere, Chang dissects the roots of his passion for ramen dishes and tsukemen on a trip to Japan. Learn the history of this famous noodle as Chang visits a ramen factory, has a bowl of the original tsukemen and examines how alkalinity makes noodles chewier and less prone to dissolving in broth.

Other season highlights include traveling to Montreal with comedian Aziz Ansari of NBC’s Parks and Recreation; visiting one of the world’s top chefs, Rene Redzepi; and traveling on a barbeque tour of Texas, North Carolina and Kansas City.
