HARTFORD, Conn. – On Saturday, February 7, Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) is serving up a marathon of travel and cooking shows featuring beautiful European scenery and delicious cuisine.

The travel adventures begin with a trip to Italy with Rick Steves in Rick Steve’s Europe, airing at 12:30 p.m. Experience the breath-taking Amalfi Coast, renowned for its rugged terrain, scenic beauty, picturesque towns and diversity as well as everything from trendy resorts to ancient Greek temples. Then, at 1 p.m., explore France with Rudy Maxa in Smart Travels with Rudy Maxa and see the medieval town of Troyes and the majestic fortress of Sedan, Europe’s largest castle, while learning about the region’s best champagne. Finally, at 1:30 p.m., stay tuned for Burt Wolf: Travels and Traditions as Wolf visits Cologne’s mouth-watering chocolate museum and tours the lovely French city of Strasbourg.

Fine cuisine then takes center stage beginning at 2 p.m. when America’s Test Kitchen showcases French techniques used for chicken in a covered pot and authentic French onion soup. On Cook’s Country at 2:30 p.m., the venerable crew of America's Test Kitchen takes to the country and renovates a 200-year-old farmhouse to experiment with classic American recipes like three-layered chocolate blackout cake, garlic roast beef, Lexington-style pulled pork, and potluck mac-and-cheese. At 3 p.m., Everyday Food reveals how simple it is to dress up entrées and desserts with sauces that taste so good they seem hard to make, but couldn't be easier.

The afternoon “food fest” continues at 4 p.m., as renowned French chef Jacques Pepin demonstrates how to make roasted split chicken with a mustard crust on Jacques Pepin: Fast Food My Way, while at 4:30 p.m. Made in Spain’s Jose Andres makes traditional Spanish migasand a chicken stew called Pollo al Chilindron. Finally, Sara Moulton provides great dinner solutions featuring foods typically eaten for breakfast, including biscuit sandwiches and quiche, on Sara’s Weeknight Meals at 5 p.m.
