CPTV’s The Geno Auriemma Show Adds a New Element Called “Cooking at Geno’s”

Release Date: 11/02/2010

Taped in Geno’s own home kitchen, the new segments air at the end of his sports interview program this basketball season on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV)

For many years, The Geno Auriemma Show, hosted by Meghan Culmo, has featured all the standard elements of a coach’s interview sports show: insights into the team and match-ups; in-depth commentary and analysis; answers to viewer questions and exciting game footage. Now, Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) has added a new feature called “Cooking at Geno’s” to this season’s Geno Auriemma Show.

Geno Auriemma, head coach of the 7-time National Champion UConn Women’s Basketball team and inductee to both the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, has always had a passion for culinary pursuits. The son of two Italian immigrants, Auriemma grew up in a family where everyone loved to eat and loved to make food. Plus, he has his own restaurant, Geno’s Fast Break, and his own line of Italian pasta sauces and wines.
The “Cooking at Geno’s” segments are being taped at Auriemma’s home and feature his wife, Kathy, along with addition to Tim Devanney, owner of Highland Park Markets, and Meghan Culmo, CPTV’s UConn Women’s Basketball color commentator. Kathy and Tim prepare favorite recipes from both the Auriemma kitchen and Highland Park Market, and afterwards, Geno makes his personal recommendations about pairing each dish with the perfect wine. Recipes for all the meals will be available in Highland Park Market stores and online at CPTV.org, keyword: Geno.

The Geno Auriemma Show is sponsored by Highland Park Markets.
