Dr. Pauline Olsen and Her Work for Greater Hartford’s Malta House of Care

Premieres Sunday, November 24 at 7 p.m. on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV)

HARTFORD, Conn. (November 22, 2013) – CPTV’s newest original special, An Evening of Irish Music, premieres on Sunday, November 24 at 7 p.m. The program, showcasing the philanthropic work of Dr. Pauline Olsen, was taped live at the Wallace Stevens Theater at The Hartford, in Hartford, Connecticut, on October 24, 2013.  In addition to recognizing Dr. Olsen’s efforts in providing medical care to the citizens in Connecticut, the evening featured a vast array of Irish music, step dancing and more.

“Dr. Olsen has been practicing medicine in the Greater Hartford area since 1977, and she has made a lasting impact in providing health care to the underserved in the Greater Hartford area,” said Jerry Franklin, president and CEO of the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network, parent company of CPTV. “Her desire to give something back to others via the Malta House of Care Mobile Medical Clinic, which is the only clinic in the Greater Hartford area whose mission is to provide free medical care, is an outstanding example of community service, and we are honored to recognize her work through this program.”

Featured performers in An Evening of Irish Music include Irish vocalist and guitarist Dan Ringrose and celebrated fiddler Jeanne Freeman, bringing their mix of traditional and contemporary Irish and Celtic music to the program. In addition, the show also features the talents of Michael “Piper” Cooney on uilleann pipes, Loretta Egan Murphy on button accordion, pianist Janine Randall and the champion Irish step dancers from the Griffith Academy
