Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) Nominated for 18 Regional Emmy Awards for the 2013 Television Season

Release Date: 04/25/2014

HARTFORD, Conn. (April 25, 2014) – The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Boston/New England chapter announced its Regional Emmy Award nominations for the 2013 television season on Wednesday, April 23, and Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) is proud to announce that it received 18 nominations in a variety of categories.

“This is an amazing honor, and we are so proud to have our work recognized by the Academy,” said Jerry Franklin, president and CEO of the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network (CPBN), parent company of CPTV. “We have always been committed to providing our audiences with a variety of top-notch original programs, and that commitment has never been more apparent than within this past year. We have tackled complex social issues with documentaries like Connecticut’s Gun Fight, explored timely health and safety concerns with films like Going, Going, Gone… and even helped usher in the next generation of superior media professionals, as two of our nominations are for work created by the CPBN Media Lab – an accomplishment for which we are particularly proud.”

The CPBN Media Lab is a media service of CPBN through which instructors and mentors provide real-world technical and journalism training to Connecticut students. This year, two Media Lab projects received nominations, in the Education/Schools and Interstitial categories.

This 37th Boston/New England Emmy Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 7 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.
