Connecticut Public Television Asks Viewers: “How Has CPTV Affected Your Life?”

Release Date: 07/14/2010

CPTV Announces the My Source Contest – Winner to Be Featured in a CPTV Television Spot

Since its founding over 40 years ago, Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) has been fortunate enough to share its programs with countless audience members. And since that founding, CPTV’s objective has remained the same: to enrich people’s lives through high-quality, educational programming that is equally accessible to all residents of Connecticut and beyond. Now, CPTV debuts My Source, a new contest that encourages CPTV viewers to share their stories about how CPTV has impacted their lives.

The My Source contest offers CPTV audience members to become ambassadors for the viewing public. These ambassadors might include everyone from educators who use CPTV content in their classrooms, to individuals who rely on CPTV “town meeting” specials like Facing the Mortgage Crisis and Confronting Colorectal Cancer. By sharing their experiences of how CPTV has affected them, these individuals will help CPTV to understand of how it can best impact and assist the community.

“Connecticut Public Television’s most important asset has always been its viewers,” says Jerry Franklin, president and CEO of Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network. “The My Source contest allows those viewers interact with us, letting us know which of our efforts have been most successful in helping us to educate, entertain, enlighten and inspire our diverse audience.”

The most compelling submission that CPTV receives will be selected to be made into a television spot that will air on CPTV and on CPTV.org.

This winning story will be chosen by Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network’s Community Advisory Board (CAB), a group operating autonomously from station management that represents Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network’s viewers and listeners. The winning submission will be chosen based on how unique, engaging and emotionally impactful it is, and contest participants should feel free to display their personal character and individuality.

Stories can be submitted online – via either text or video submission – at CPTV.org, keywords: “My Source.” Visit the site for a complete list of submission guidelines and upload instructions. Entries must be submitted by Friday, July 16, 2010 for contest consideration. However, as the contest is part of CPTV’s ongoing My Source campaign, viewers can feel free to submit their stories and input after the July 16 deadline – although not valid for purposes of the contest, these entries will help CPTV fulfill its mission to enhance the lives of its viewers.
