Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network Hosts Multi-Media Boot Camp Week for College Teachers, Aug. 4-8

Release Date: 07/18/2014

The Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network (CPBN) Learning Lab will host a Multi-Media Journalist Boot Camp on Monday, August 4 through Friday, August 8. The unique program is designed for college media teachers, and will be led by award-winning instructors at CPBN’s headquarters at 1049 Asylum Avenue in Hartford.

College teachers will experience five days of intensive video/audio and information graphics production using DSLR cameras, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop. Training will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, yielding a total of 40 hours of direct instruction in the field, the classroom and the Learning Lab’s iMac lab. The cost for the full-week Boot Camp is $1,000.

“The CPBN Multi-Media Journalist Boot Camp will be a high-energy, challenging and rewarding instructional experience that gives college media instructors new tools for building curriculum and increasing capacity for learning in their own classrooms,” said Paul Pfeffer, manager of education at CPBN. “Participants should be prepared to work hard in a supportive environment.”

The Learning Lab is an innovative educational facility where students and teachers leverage technology to inspire creativity, learn digital media skills, produce new content, and develop college and career-readiness skills. Located at CPBN’s headquarters at 1049 Asylum Avenue in Hartford, the Learning Lab offers 20,000 square feet of classroom, studio and computer space and, during the school year, serves as a satellite campus for high school seniors through a partnership with Hartford Public Schools and the Journalism and Media Academy Magnet School.
